The Canary Health Service (SCS), in collaboration with the Tenerife Island Council and its Project FARO, will roll out a program of preventive activities against addictions and for promoting healthy habits in the use of new technologies during TLP Tenerife 2026, held at the Tenerife capital's Fairgrounds from July 14 to 19.

The Canary Health Service (SCS), through the directorates general of Public Health and Mental Health and Addictions, is collaborating once again at TLP Tenerife 2026. The objective is to raise awareness among young people in Canary Islands about the use of digital consumption and prevent potential addictions arising from the inappropriate use of electronic devices and the Internet. These actions are part of the IV Canary Plan on Addictions and the Project FARO of the Tenerife Island Council.
The technology event, which brings together thousands of young people interested in new trends, video games, e-sports, and pop culture, becomes an ideal setting for preventive interventions. The aim is to promote healthy habits and integral well-being, addressing aspects such as sleep hygiene, nutrition, hydration, and physical exercise, especially during prolonged periods of screen time.
The program includes workshops on mental health, addiction prevention, affective-sexual education, healthy lifestyle habits, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. A health information point will also be set up, managed by the SCS Screening Points, for the prevention of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), with free distribution of condoms. Additionally, a calisthenics space will be provided to encourage physical activity.
The collaboration between the SCS and Project FARO, a strategic initiative of the SCS Mental Health Plan, seeks to promote the prevention of mental health pathologies and healthy lifestyles through an intersectoral approach. The Directorate General of Public Health will also participate with activities promoting healthy eating.
Messages about the proper use of technology will be disseminated through screens placed around the venue, complementing the in-person activities and aiming to prevent problems arising from the inappropriate use of technology by young people.
