Santa Cruz de Tenerife Leads Business Creation in Spain

The Single Business Window facilitated the creation of 434 businesses in the first half of 2026, with 53.2% led by women.

The Official Chamber of Commerce of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has driven the creation of 434 businesses in the first half of 2026, consolidating its position as a national leader.

The Entrepreneurship Support Point-Single Business Window (PAE-VUE) in Santa Cruz de Tenerife has registered the creation of 337 businesses, surpassing other major Spanish cities such as Madrid (216) and Barcelona (312).
In total, the Chamber of Commerce reinforces its support for the economic development of the western province by creating 434 businesses in the first half of 2026, of which 53.2% are led by women. This figure was presented at the PAE-VUE Monitoring Commission, supported by the Department of Economy of the Government of the Canary Islands, the Tenerife Island Council, and the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council.
The Chamber's Director General, Lola Pérez, noted that the data demonstrates how the PAE-VUE streamlines the business creation process. Meanwhile, Krysten Martín, CEO of Commerce and Business Support for the Island Council, highlighted the importance of public-private collaboration in realizing business initiatives.
The month with the highest activity was January, with 85 initiatives. An average of over 72 businesses were registered per month, with a stable trend in May and June following a slight decrease in April.
The Chamber's headquarters in Santa Cruz de Tenerife leads the national ranking of businesses materialized through the Electronic Single Document (DUE). Users primarily come from Santa Cruz de Tenerife (25%) and La Laguna (22%). Within the Insular PAE-VUE Network, La Palma accounts for the largest percentage of materialized businesses (52.78%).
88.5% of the businesses created are sole proprietorships, followed by 10.6% limited liability companies. The majority profile of entrepreneurs is women aged 25 to 45, with university studies and unemployed for less than a year. 9% are under 25 years old, and 32% are over 45.
The Entrepreneurship Support Point-Single Business Window has over two decades of experience in advising and formalizing new business initiatives. The program is part of a comprehensive circuit of complementary services, including access to financing and specialized business management training.
