Spanish passengers aboard the MV Hondius, which experienced a hantavirus outbreak, have begun disembarking at Granadilla de Abona Port in Tenerife, to be flown to Madrid where they will undergo quarantine.

The disembarkation operation for the MV Hondius commenced at 09:45 Canary Islands time, with the first barge transporting five Spanish citizens. These travelers, who have remained asymptomatic, were met on land and boarded a bus managed by the UME (Military Emergency Unit).
From the port, the passengers were transported to Tenerife South Airport, located approximately 12 kilometers away, where a military aircraft awaited to take them to the Spanish capital. Upon arrival in Madrid, they will be directed to the Gómez Ulla Military Hospital to complete the established quarantine period.
The travelers, equipped with PPEs, took the opportunity to capture images and videos of the journalists gathered at the pier. The evacuation process is expected to accelerate, as Sanidad Exterior (Foreign Health) has confirmed that all occupants of the ship continue to show no symptoms of the disease.
Following the disembarkation of Spanish citizens, the process will continue with passengers from the Netherlands, who will also be responsible for the repatriation of travelers from Germany, Greece, and a portion of the ship's crew.
