Since the opening of the filing period, a total of 115,933 applications have been registered in the Archipelago. The majority of these correspond to taxpayers expecting a refund, who tend to be the quickest to submit their declarations. In fact, nine out of ten Canarians who have already filed have done so with a favorable outcome, anticipating a positive deposit into their accounts.
The volume of applications has seen a significant increase of 17.5% compared to the previous year, rising from 98,666 to 115,933. Refunds paid have also grown, with a 73.9% increase in the number of operations and an impressive 103% surge in the total amount, which has gone from 3.8 million to 7.7 million euros.
Conversely, the amount that Canarians must reimburse to the Tax Agency has also increased by 27.6% compared to last year. A total of 5,671 island taxpayers collectively owe five million euros, compared to the 3.9 million owed by 4,682 Canarians during the same period in the previous campaign.
By province, Las Palmas led the start of the campaign with 64,966 declarations filed, while Santa Cruz de Tenerife registered 50,967. However, the latter province showed the largest year-on-year advance, with a 19.4% increase, surpassing the national average growth of 8%.
This year's campaign introduces the expansion of the 'Renta Directa' service, which now benefits more groups, doubling its potential reach to nine million users. Additionally, preventive messages have been enhanced to avoid errors, and warnings about regional deductions have been added.
