The high temperatures and the presence of calima that have affected Tenerife over the weekend are set to decrease from Monday. The forecast from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) indicates that the peak of this hot spell will occur between the weekend and the beginning of next week, with values more typical of June than April.
Although a clear drop in temperatures is expected in Tenerife from Monday, some areas like Lanzarote or Fuerteventura might still register high values for the season. However, Tenerife anticipates a "normalization of temperatures" and more pleasant thermal sensations during the first days of the coming week.
For the weekend, denser clouds are expected, along with a slight chance of light rain in central areas of the island during the early hours of Saturday and Sunday. Traces of calima will still be noticeable on Saturday, but it is expected to leave the archipelago by Sunday. Temperatures will hover around 30°C, potentially reaching 34ºC, especially in the south of the island, where significant wind gusts are expected, though they will gradually subside throughout the weekend.
With the start of next week, the calima will dissipate, leaving partially clear skies in various areas of Tenerife. The temperature drop will be more noticeable in the north of the island, influenced by wind gusts that will vary considerably in higher relief areas.
