The agreement between Aguas de las Cuencas de España (ACUAES), the Cabildo de Tenerife, and the Tenerife Insular Water Council has already invested 158 million euros out of the planned 233.5 million. These projects aim to increase wastewater treatment capacity, reduce marine discharges, and promote the reuse of treated water for irrigation.
In the Oeste system, testing has begun for the new wastewater treatment plant in Guía de Isora, which will serve 109,000 equivalent inhabitants in Guía de Isora and Santiago del Teide. The investment in this system amounts to 37 million euros and includes pumping stations and pipelines.
Concurrently, the Los Letrados treatment plant, within the Granadilla system, is also in the testing phase. This infrastructure, with an investment of 43 million euros, will treat wastewater from 145,000 equivalent inhabitants and includes collectors and a pumping line.
The Arona Este-San Miguel system represents the largest investment with 107 million euros. The Montaña Reverón treatment plant is nearly complete, awaiting electrical connections and the final section of pipelines for treated water discharge. Progress is also being made to incorporate Palm-Mar into the system.
In the north of the island, the main collectors for the Valle de La Orotava sanitation and the Cuesta de la Villa pumping station have been completed, with an investment of 13 million euros. The Acentejo system, with a planned 33.5 million euros, is in the project drafting phase after completing tests on absorption wells.
The funding for these actions comes from FEDER funds from the 2014-2020 and 2021-2027 periods, along with contributions from the General State Administration and the Cabildo de Tenerife.
