The Cabildo de Tenerife has launched an initiative to link young people from Tenerife residing in Madrid with the island's labor market, organizing a networking event on April 15.

This strategy aims to transform the emigration of qualified young people into an opportunity to establish a talent network connected to Tenerife. The project, developed in collaboration with the consulting firm Hunger4Innovation and various companies, will have its first major event in the Spanish capital.
The proposal was presented by the president of the Cabildo, Rosa Dávila, along with island councilors Serafín Mesa (Youth and Training) and Juan José Martínez (Research, Innovation and Development), as well as Sixto Lecuona, co-founder of Hunger4Innovation. Representatives from collaborating entities such as Hospiten and Constelación Canaria also attended.

"Connecting talent, generating opportunities, and promoting the return of these young people is key for the economic future of Tenerife."

Rosa Dávila · President of the Cabildo de Tenerife
Councilor Serafín Mesa explained that one of the main goals is to create a stable community of young people from Tenerife in Madrid, continuously connected with major companies in the islands. This network will facilitate access to job offers, business initiatives, and new professional development possibilities in Tenerife.
Mesa also highlighted the transformation of the island's productive model, with an increase in hiring in sectors attractive to young people, such as technology, audiovisual, and scientific fields, including cutting-edge areas like biomedicine. For his part, Juan José Martínez emphasized that the Cabildo seeks not only to recover talent but also to retain it, ensuring that vacancies in the scientific and technological sector are filled by local talent.
The April 15 event will take place at Impact Hub Gobernador in Madrid, bringing together about a hundred professionals, postgraduate students, entrepreneurs, and qualified individuals linked to Tenerife. This event aims to strengthen emotional ties with the island and facilitate access to professional opportunities, showcasing the commitment of the Cabildo and participating companies to talent from Tenerife.
Collected data indicates that almost 60% of participants currently have no professional connection with Tenerife but show interest in developing one. Furthermore, 100% are considering returning to the island in the medium or long term, or depending on opportunities that may arise. More than 90% would be willing to actively participate in a talent community linked to Tenerife if it connects them with relevant professional opportunities.
These figures demonstrate that Canarian talent is not disconnected due to lack of interest, but rather due to the absence of stable mechanisms that facilitate its relationship with the island's economic fabric. The project aims to create a consolidated system that promotes the return of qualified professionals, facilitates access to quality employment, and generates a network of Canarian ambassadors abroad.
