The Tenerife Island Council is executing works on the TF-5 highway, specifically on an approximately 11-kilometer stretch connecting Icod de los Vinos and El Tanque. The intervention, covering about 60,000 square meters, aims to enhance road safety and extend the highway's lifespan.
The project involves the rehabilitation and regularization of the road surface, followed by the application of a five-millimeter cold micro-asphalt layer. This new layer is designed to improve road grip and circulation conditions, providing greater resistance to accumulated wear and tear.
Work initially began on August 30th during nighttime hours. However, to ensure the proper application and setting of the micro-asphalt, which requires specific environmental conditions, the works will also continue during the day. These tasks, including milling and the application of the new layer, are expected to last about two weeks, though the final duration will depend on progress and weather conditions.
During the construction period, traffic will be diverted via the TF-42 and TF-82 roads. The Island Council advises drivers to plan their journeys in advance, follow the temporary signage, and be aware of potential traffic disruptions, especially for those with tight schedules or regular routes.
