The head of the island institution has described the management of invitations for the papal visit to Tenerife as a misstep. He stated that the lack of a formal invitation to represent the island of El Hierro reflects a lack of consideration for the island territory within the framework of this regional religious event.
“"I have not been invited, unlike other presidents of the eastern island councils who will attend the reception."
The leader noted that this situation is symptomatic of the limited importance currently given to the needs and presence of El Hierro in major institutional events held on other islands of the archipelago.
