The second edition of the Vuelta Ciclista a Tenerife Junior is poised to begin this weekend, featuring a two-stage race that promises significant challenges for young cycling talents.

The official presentation of the event took place this Tuesday at the Cabildo de Tenerife, where all the details of this race were unveiled. The competition will unfold on Saturday, May 2, and Sunday, May 3, across various locations on the island.
The competition will bring together 20 teams, both national and international, including prominent participants from the previous edition such as Electromercantil, Maguisa Guijuelo, and Bathco. Canarian teams like Tenerife Bike Point and Viclass Tenerife, along with the Gran Canaria Bike Team, will also be present. The participation of foreign teams, such as Portugal's Blackjack Bairrada and France's Asvillemur Cyclisme, highlights the international scope of this championship, which is included in the national calendar of the Spanish Cycling Federation. This event offers a crucial opportunity for the development of young talent and the exposure of Canarian and Tenerife cyclists.
The race route is notable for its two demanding stages, characterized by technical terrain, mountainous sections, and a high level of competition. The first stage, scheduled for Saturday, will cover approximately 69.80 kilometers, starting and finishing in San Cristóbal de La Laguna. After a fast initial section towards Santa Cruz, cyclists will enter the Anaga massif, tackling the ascent to El Bailadero. Following the descent towards Tegueste, the peloton will return to La Laguna, concluding in the Plaza del Cristo. This day will feature two intermediate sprints and key mountain points, with the final climb to Las Mercedes being particularly significant.
The second stage, set for Sunday and to be broadcast live by Televisión Canaria, will increase in difficulty with a route of between 99 and 103 kilometers. It will start in La Laguna and finish in Vilaflor de Chasna. The course will begin with a progressive climb along the TF-24 road, passing through the Corona Forestal Natural Park until reaching the Los Loros junction. Subsequently, the peloton will descend towards Arafo to connect with the historic TF-28 road, which runs through the south of the island. After passing through Granadilla de Abona, the definitive ascent to Vilaflor will begin, with the finish line located at an altitude of approximately 1,420 meters. This long and constant climb, combined with an accumulated elevation gain exceeding 2,000 meters, will be decisive for the general classification.
