The operation, carried out by the specialized group of the Administrative Surveillance and Inspection Unit, resulted in the immobilization of four heavy vehicles. These trucks exceeded the Maximum Authorized Mass limits, posing a direct risk to road safety and infrastructure integrity.
The breakdown of the violations shows that 12 were due to the lack of necessary administrative authorization, 12 were related to weight excess, and three were linked to deficiencies in tachograph usage. In cases of overloading, officers required drivers to unload the excess cargo before continuing their journey.
These actions are part of the Annual Road Transport Inspection Plan in the Canary Islands. The goal is to ensure compliance with current regulations, protect labor rights in the sector, and promote fair competition among transport companies.
To detect overloading, officers used portable axle-weighing scales, allowing for precise measurement of the vehicle's actual mass. Furthermore, mandatory documentation and driving rest times were verified in accordance with the Canary Islands Road Transport Management Law.
