The Parliament of the Canary Islands and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of the Canary Islands are honoring artist Pepe Dámaso this Monday, an essential figure in contemporary Canarian culture, at the Gabinete Literario in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

The event will take place starting at 12:00 PM in the Golden Hall of the Gabinete Literario in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The President of the Parliament, Astrid Pérez, highlighted Dámaso's importance, stating that "to speak of Pepe Dámaso is to speak of memory, identity, and the cultural soul of the Canary Islands," calling him one of the "most relevant" figures in contemporary Canarian and Spanish art.
Born in Agaete, Gran Canaria, Pepe Dámaso's career spans over six decades of artistic creation. His work has extended to painting, sculpture, stage design, and audiovisuals, in addition to his work in cultural promotion.
Dámaso's work, deeply connected to Atlantic identity and the popular memory of the Canary Islands, has been exhibited in prominent national and international venues. He has also played a crucial role in defending and disseminating Canarian cultural heritage, establishing himself as an indispensable reference.
