These eight projects, to be developed during 2026 and 2027, were chosen from a competitive call that received twenty-two proposals. A joint commission from the Vice-Rectorate for Culture and University Extension at ULL and the Cabildo de Tenerife evaluated the quality, feasibility, dissemination, and social impact of each initiative.
The highest-scoring initiative is «La Laguna 1600: Rostros, Espacios y Memorias del Atlántico» (Faces, Spaces, and Memories of the Atlantic), from the Research Group in Advanced Technologies in Architecture and Engineering (TechnoLab ULL). It will use artificial intelligence to digitally reconstruct the city of La Laguna in the year 1600, creating an interactive exhibition and an accessible web portal.
The second-highest rated is «Memorias en el proscenio: las artes escénicas ante los procesos de reparación democrática» (Memories on the Stage: Performing Arts Facing Processes of Democratic Repair), from the Cultural Hall of Performing Arts. This project will use theater to construct democratic memory through workshops and conferences in collaboration with entities such as the Auditorio de Tenerife and the Canary Islands Acting School.
Another notable project is «Cartografías del arte contemporáneo (III)» (Cartographies of Contemporary Art (III)), from the Cultural Hall of Contemporary Artistic Thought, which will examine emerging trends in current creation and visual culture. This edition will focus on activities outside the university, in venues like La Limonera or Malestado, and will give prominence to students and recent graduates.
Rounding out the list of selected projects are: «Cultura Digital Interactiva, Género e Inteligencia Artificial: Creación, participación y ciudadanía en la era digital» (Interactive Digital Culture, Gender, and Artificial Intelligence: Creation, participation, and citizenship in the digital age); «Turistificación» (The Impact of Tourism); «Actividades culturales del X Congreso Internacional Tenerife Noir de Investigación sobre el Género Negro» (Cultural Activities of the 10th International Congress Tenerife Noir on Crime Fiction Research); «Fugas y disidencias en la narrativa latinoamericana actual» (Escapes and Dissidences in Current Latin American Narrative); and the «Jornadas Internacionales sobre Gestión Cultural, Patrimonio y Espacio Público» (International Conferences on Cultural Management, Heritage, and Public Space).
The call allocates a total of 74,000 euros to fund these projects, thanks to a grant from the Cabildo de Tenerife, aiming to strengthen ULL's cultural programming and foster connections between the institution and the public.
