The Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of La Laguna (ULL) will host the welcome event (Welcome Day) tomorrow, Friday, September 18, at 4:00 PM for national and international mobility students who will be at the institution for the first semester or the full academic year.
The event will feature welcomes from the rector, Francisco García; the Vice-Rector for Internationalization and Cooperation, Inmaculada González; and the Vice-Rector for Students, Rosario Hernández, who will officially greet the new students.
The ULL is receiving a total of 715 mobility students. Of these, 410 are from Spanish universities participating in the SICUE program. Another 261 students are part of Erasmus+, arriving from 14 European countries. The remaining 44 students come from 18 countries in Africa and Latin America, participating in various mobility and international cooperation programs.
The Erasmus+ students hail from countries including Germany, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, France, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Romania, Switzerland, and Turkey. The non-EU group includes participants from the Carolina Foundation (Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, and Venezuela), the Women for Africa program (Algeria, Egypt, Madagascar, Mozambique, and Togo), the Erasmus+ KA171 LIDERAFRICA project (Ivory Coast, Namibia, and Senegal), and bilateral agreements with American institutions (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, and Peru).
In addition to these, seven students are linked to the Talento África and Canary Islands Government Scholarships programs, coming from Cape Verde, Senegal, and Benin. Collectively, the non-EU mobility represents 18 different countries at the start of this academic year.
The event aims to facilitate the students' integration by providing information on key university resources and services. There will be information booths for areas such as mobility, languages, library, sports, information and guidance, training, internationalization, and European alliances. The association AEGEE Tenerife will also collaborate with activities and the Buddy Program to help integrate visiting students.
The event will feature a social gathering with music, animation activities, and an aperitif, fostering interaction among mobility students, local students, and the university community.
