Tenerife's football scene was marred by violence after a promotion playoff match in Los Realejos, where CD Verdellada's youth team suffered assaults and their bus was stoned.

Club Deportivo Verdellada has issued a statement strongly condemning the assaults suffered by its youth team at the conclusion of last Friday's match, May 15th, against UD Longuera C, as part of the playoff for promotion to the first youth division. The incidents took place at the Antonio Yeoward football field facilities, in La Longuera, Los Realejos municipality.
According to the Lagunero club's account, after the final whistle, the coach and a defender of CD Verdellada were physically assaulted by fans of the local team. Faced with escalating tension and the risk of further attacks, all players and coaching staff were forced to take refuge in the locker room.
The severity of the situation necessitated the intervention of the Local Police. Several patrols arrived at the venue and escorted the CD Verdellada expedition to ensure their safe departure from the facilities and the northern municipality.
Despite the police escort, disturbances continued outside. As the young footballers and coaches boarded the club's official bus, a group of individuals threw objects at the vehicle's windows, causing them to break. CD Verdellada has shared videos documenting these events, highlighting the risk to the minors' safety.
The sports entity has expressed concern over the recurrence of security incidents at the same venue, questioning the protective measures and demanding accountability to ensure a healthy and safe sporting environment.
