The Ministry of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory has sent a formal proposal to the Government of the Canary Islands to discuss the transfer of competencies for aerodromes and heliports not classified as being of general interest. This initiative is part of the institutional collaboration for the development of the autonomous communities' statutes.
The central government has expressed its willingness to agree on a date for the convening of the mixed transfer commission, a necessary preliminary step before the transfer is formalized through a royal decree approved by the Council of Ministers.
Following the direction set by the Minister of Territorial Policy, Ángel Víctor Torres, the ministerial department plans to extend negotiations to transport infrastructures of general interest. The objective is to reach an agreement with the Canary Islands on terms similar to those agreed with the Basque Government, for which contacts and documentation exchange will commence.
This proposal aims to strengthen the autonomy of the Canary Islands in managing its key infrastructures, promoting a model of inter-administrative collaboration to optimize territorial development.
