The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has confirmed a trend of decreasing temperatures and an increase in the intensity of northerly winds across the Canary Islands. This forecast is further supported by the European model, which, according to Meteored, also considers the possibility of snow on the archipelago's highest summits.
The atmospheric configuration in the North Atlantic will favor the arrival of cooler air, which, combined with an anticyclonic ridge and a low-pressure area west of the peninsula, will strengthen north and northeast winds. This situation could lead to light snowfalls on the summit of Teide.
For this Wednesday, cloudy intervals are expected, with a predominance of high clouds in the eastern islands and developing cloudiness in the western ones. There is a low probability of weak and occasional rains in the north of the mountainous islands during the late hours of the day, especially in La Palma. Temperatures will remain largely unchanged, while the wind will blow light to moderate from the northeast, shifting to north in the afternoon. In the central peaks of Tenerife, moderate to strong southwest winds are anticipated.
On Thursday, cloudiness will persist, particularly in the north of the higher relief islands, where weak and occasional rains are likely. Precipitation is also not ruled out in other areas, mainly in the afternoon. Temperatures will remain stable, and the northerly wind will gain intensity, with strong gusts on the eastern and northwestern slopes of the mountainous islands. In the central peaks of Tenerife, very strong gusts could be recorded during the early morning.
Looking ahead to Friday, cloudy intervals and more overcast skies will persist in the north of the mountainous islands, where generally weak rains are expected. Precipitation could also occur in other parts of the archipelago, especially in the eastern islands. The wind will continue to blow moderately from the north, with strong intervals on the eastern and western slopes of the higher relief islands.
