This selection marks the fifth time the Palman locality will host a national trail running championship, following editions in 2016, 2020, 2021, and 2023, underscoring its consolidation as a benchmark in this discipline nationwide.
The main event, the Ultra modality, will feature a course of approximately 70.5 kilometers with an accumulated positive elevation gain of nearly 4,000 meters. The race will take place entirely within the municipal boundaries of El Paso, connecting its territorial limits from north to south.
The route, described as demanding and beautiful, will lead athletes through the majesty of the Caldera de Taburiente, the ascent to Reventón, the area of Cumbre Vieja, the slopes of Fátima, and the imposing Tajogaite volcano.
“"This type of event positions us on the national and international map, projecting the image of El Paso as a dynamic municipality, capable of organizing major events. Furthermore, it generates a direct impact on the local economy, benefiting all sectors and providing movement and opportunities for our people."
The designation not only recognizes the uniqueness of the course but also the extensive organizational experience of the municipality. Its strategic placement in the calendar, prior to major international competitions, makes this championship a crucial event for the formation of the Spanish national team that will compete in the ultra-distance world championships.
From an institutional perspective, both the mayor and the sports councilor have highlighted the event's relevance for promoting El Paso as a leading sports destination and its positive impact on the local economy. This designation also opens the door to future challenges, such as the possibility of launching a bid to host a World Championship on the island of La Palma.
