The Canarian humorist and actress, originally from the municipality of El Paso, has once again captured media attention by reflecting on how her way of speaking is perceived outside the islands. Her comments on Canarian identity emerged during a recent appearance on RTVE.
Petite Lorena, who currently resides in Madrid for professional reasons, confessed on public television that her accent generates a particular reaction in the Spanish capital. With pride, she stated: "We are the European Caribbean."
The actress explained that her way of speaking draws attention, but always in a positive manner. "I notice it's not the norm. They always look at me like 'how cool,' it's not rejection," she assured, adding that when she speaks with her native accent on the mainland, she feels "a bit like an exotic bird."

This defense of Canarian orality coincides with a period of great professional success. Her latest show, titled Tremenda, concluded its tour across the Archipelago with resounding success, selling out tickets at the Teatro Circo de Marte, in La Palma.
In previous interviews with DIARIO DE AVISOS, the artist had already expressed her deep love for the islands' traditions. In fact, Lorena defined her work as a project that "is born from the oral tradition of our grandmothers," and for the humorist, that Canarian essence "cannot be reduced to a like."
