The protest, called by the Platform of Administrative Assistants of the Canary Health Service and the Movement of Auxiliary Nursing Care Technicians of the Canary Islands, seeks to align their professional category with the training and daily duties they perform. Chanting 'C1 now!', the demonstrators denounced that the reform of the Framework Statute for health personnel does not address their demands.
The groups argue that they are currently classified in group C2 despite carrying out tasks that correspond to a higher category. For TCAE professionals, reclassification would mean a salary increase of approximately 300 euros per month.
“"We are here to claim our rights as health professionals and achieve the professional category that belongs to us, which is C1."
Juan Carlos Cerezo, spokesperson for the Unidos por el C1 platform, defended the fairness of this demand for thousands of professionals and thanked those who traveled to Madrid to protest before the Ministry of Finance. He emphasized the 'essential' role of these groups and called for the new Framework Statute to definitively include their professional reclassification.
Isabela Pérez, president of the Platform of Administrative Assistants of the SCS, criticized the Canary Islands Government's Department of Health for not conveying the agreement approved by the Canary Islands Parliament in favor of reclassifying health categories of Vocational Training and management and services to the Ministry of Health. 'We are not asking for favors, we are asking for labor justice,' stated Pérez, who regretted that the health debate excessively focuses on medical staff.
This gathering marks the beginning of a series of mobilizations, which do not rule out the possibility of a strike, an option already communicated to the Department of Health. Representatives of the groups also expressed their support for those who will attend the Congress of Deputies to present the Canary Islands Parliament's agreement to deputy Cristina Valido.
