The La Palma Cabildo has approved an investment of 600,000 euros for the paving of a crucial section of the LP-2 road in the Argual neighborhood, aiming to improve road safety and access to the Caldera de Taburiente National Park.

The Governing Council of the La Palma Cabildo has given the green light to a project for paving a vital segment of the LP-2 road, located in the Argual neighborhood. This route is essential as it serves as the main access to the Caldera de Taburiente National Park and central areas of the municipality, including the Municipal Market and Llano Tesa. The investment allocated for this work totals 600,000 euros.
As explained by Darwin Rodríguez, the island's Minister of Infrastructure, these actions are part of a strategic plan coordinated with the Los Llanos de Aridane City Council and its mayor, Javier Llamas. The primary objective is to restore roads that exhibit a high degree of danger and deterioration, thereby ensuring user safety.

"We are intervening in two fundamental arteries of the island. An essential communication route for residents of the western region and the main tourist showcase for those visiting the National Park. The volume of vehicles, both light and heavy, made this work unavoidable."

The intervention will cover a total of 1,132 linear meters. Work will be concentrated on the LP-2 road (Southern Ring Road), starting from the final roundabout of the Los Llanos Outer Road (LP-21) and extending along the LP-214 (La Caldera road) until its connection with Ramón Pol Street.
Following technical reports that revealed visibly worn and cracked asphalt, the Ministry has opted for a durable technical solution. This includes the removal of deteriorated pavement in critical sections and the installation of a new wearing course. This layer has been specifically designed to withstand the heavy traffic in the area and improve adhesion and visibility conditions for all road users.
Rodríguez emphasized that this investment is part of an emergency plan initiated at the beginning of the current term. He noted that areas with considerable deterioration compromising road safety were inherited, and he reaffirmed his team's commitment to providing the residents of La Palma with dignified, safe, and future-ready roads.
