The Ministry of Social Welfare of the Government of the Canary Islands has accelerated the processing of aid for dependency and disability, halving administrative deadlines for their concession, except for the submission of applications and appeals.

This measure, published in the BOC (Official Gazette of the Canary Islands), materializes in the 2026 subsidy call for projects that promote the rights of people with dependency and disability. The allocated budget amounts to 4,691,967.30 euros.
The Minister of Social Welfare, Candelaria Delgado, stated that the objective is to facilitate access to these subsidies for third-sector entities in the shortest possible time to address socially relevant needs. "With this action, we aim to facilitate access to these subsidies for third-sector entities in the shortest possible time, so that socially relevant needs can be met, benefiting people in a situation of particular vulnerability," she said. She added that the reduction in deadlines will also allow beneficiary entities to have more time to adequately plan, organize, and execute the subsidized actions.
The call includes 13 lines of aid, each focused on a specific area of action. These cover prevention and social integration, early childhood intervention, support for families and the environment, prevention of unwanted loneliness, leisure, cultural activities, and free time, as well as the promotion of mental health.
Projects supporting families and non-professional caregivers, including respite care, are also contemplated. Furthermore, information actions, psychology services, labor guidance, mediation, work-life balance, and legal advice will be financed.
Other lines of action cover the training and support of non-professional caregivers, the promotion of personal and independent autonomy, and the fostering of accessibility. Finally, subsidies will be allocated to personal assistance at home, adapted transport, home meal services, service improvement through new construction, renovation, adaptation, or rehabilitation works, and technological support.
