Candelaria experienced a special night during its Fiestas in honor of the Patron Saint of the Canary Islands with the concert by the Banda Las Candelas alongside violinist Ara Malikian. Around 4,000 attendees filled the venue next to the City Hall to enjoy a musical spectacle.
The Banda Las Candelas, directed by Mauro Fariña Alonso, delivered an outstanding performance, the result of months of preparation. The collaboration with Ara Malikian created an emotional concert of high artistic quality, met with applause from the audience. One of the pieces performed included a nod to the Island of El Hierro, which is dedicated to the fiestas this year.
The eleventh edition of 'Orillas del Mar' solidified its position as a significant cultural event of the fiestas. This year, the occasion also commemorated the 50th anniversary of the Banda Las Candelas, a cultural entity with deep roots in the municipality.
The mayor of Candelaria, Mari Brito, expressed the emotion of the concert and the municipality's pride in having a band capable of undertaking such significant challenges. She highlighted the performance as a milestone in the 50th anniversary of the Banda Las Candelas and praised the leadership of its director, Mauro Fariña Alonso.
Ara Malikian, a renowned international violinist, captivated the audience with his unique style, blending European classical music with folk influences and genres like tango, flamenco, and rock. He has received awards such as the Felix Mendelssohn in Berlin and the Pablo Sarasate in Pamplona, and has performed at venues like Carnegie Hall and the Teatro Real in Madrid.
Arranger Humberto Armas played a crucial role in the event, adapting musical pieces and serving as a liaison between the band and Ara Malikian.
The concert reaffirms the Candelaria City Council's commitment to quality cultural programming, attracting thousands of people and establishing the Fiestas of the Patron Saint of the Canary Islands as a cultural benchmark.
