The hospital complex, affiliated with the Canary Islands Government's Department of Health, now has 36 services and units accredited under this quality management system. This certification validates the implementation of processes focused on continuous improvement, aiming for more efficient, safe, and patient-centered care.
In addition to the new additions, other certified services and units include Hospitalization, Neonatology, Intensive Care Medicine, Operating Room, Anesthesiology, Day Surgery for Medical Oncology, Obstetrics, Radiation Oncology, Otorhinolaryngology, Cardiology, and Home Hospitalization.
The laboratories of Hematology, Clinical Analysis, and Pathological Anatomy, along with the Blood Bank, are also among the certified services. Other recognized departments include Nuclear Medicine, Admissions and Clinical Documentation, User Care, Social Work, Food Services, Sterilization, Hospital Pharmacy, Supplies, Hospital Engineering, Hospital Radiophysics, Information and Communication Technologies, Health Management, the Quality and Patient Safety unit, Administrative Contracting, Electromedicine, Occupational Risk Prevention, and the Specialized Urgent Care Center.
Hospital La Candelaria also maintains specific certifications. In 2016, it obtained UNE 179008 for the Liver Transplant unit, becoming a pioneer in Spain. Subsequently, in 2019, it achieved UNE 179009 for the Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics unit, being the first hospital center in the country to receive this recognition. Both have been renewed after passing periodic follow-up and renewal audits.
Furthermore, the center has renewed the ISO 14001 certification for its Environmental Management System, which attests to the measures implemented to minimize its environmental impact and reaffirms the center's commitment to sustainability.
