The National Geographic Institute (IGN) documented several low-magnitude seismic movements in the Canary Islands between April 10 and 11, 2026, with a particular concentration in the western area of Arafo, Tenerife.

According to data provided by the IGN through its interactive viewer, a total of seven seismic events were recorded. Of these, five occurred on April 11 and the remaining two on April 10.
Most of this activity was located west of Arafo, Tenerife, where five earthquakes were detected. All of them showed reduced magnitudes, ranging between 1.6 and 1.9 mbLg, and occurred at shallow depths, between 3 and 7 kilometers.
On April 10, at 23:00 hours, an earthquake of 1.6 mbLg was recorded at a depth of 3 kilometers. The following day, April 11, the agency detected four more movements in the same area, specifically at 16:59, 17:41, 18:08, and 18:55 hours. Their magnitudes were 1.6, 1.6, 1.6, and 1.9 mbLg, respectively, with depths of 3 kilometers for the first three and 7 kilometers for the last.
In addition to the events in Arafo, the IGN table included two other earthquakes. One occurred on April 10 at 04:08 hours, with a magnitude of 2.0 mbLg and a depth of 28 kilometers, located between Gran Canaria and Tenerife. The second was recorded on April 11 at 06:35 hours, with a magnitude of 1.5 mbLg and a depth of 37 kilometers.
This series of records demonstrates low-intensity seismic activity in Tenerife and its surroundings over two consecutive days, with a notable concentration of events with similar characteristics in the Arafo area.
