The Civil Guard has conducted an operation that led to the apprehension of Antonio Miguel L.P., known in police circles as 'El Pardela'. This individual, considered one of Tenerife's most infamous thieves, was arrested last week in the municipality of Güímar. The ongoing investigation, which remains under wraps, focuses on crimes committed in various locations across the island.
At approximately 60 years old, 'El Pardela' possesses an extensive criminal record, with dozens of prior offenses primarily related to aggravated robbery, violent robbery, and vehicle theft. His criminal career began in the late 80s or early 90s, as part of a generation of criminals from the Güímar area, many of whom resided in neighborhoods such as Fátima, La Constitución, or Alfonso Carrillo.
Members of the Güímar Gang, including 'El Pardela', were characterized by habitual drug use from a young age. Robberies became their primary means of funding their addictions, operating both individually and collectively. Among his regular accomplices were Domingo D.A., alias 'Patapalo', and José Benigno Q.G., 'El Benino', who died in a traffic accident while driving a stolen car.
A notable incident occurred in early April 2010, when a local police officer from La Laguna, who had previously been stationed in Güímar, recognized 'El Pardela' and two accomplices in a white Volkswagen Golf GTI. Following a pursuit along the TF-2, the criminals' vehicle crashed. 'El Pardela' attempted to flee on foot and assaulted an officer with a knife, but was eventually subdued. His accomplices, Juan Antonio L.G. and Silverio M., were also arrested after attempting to escape.
Despite his driving skills in high-tension situations, officers confirm that Antonio Miguel does not possess a driver's license. This latest arrest highlights a recurring pattern in his life, where robberies and prison sentences have become a constant.
