Civil Guard agents from the Güímar post have arrested a man as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health, specifically drug trafficking. The incident occurred during the afternoon of the romería (pilgrimage festival) of Villa de Arafo.
The officers, who were on foot providing public order and citizen security services, observed the accused in a street within the urban area. He was carrying 15 small white plastic bags containing cocaine, prepared for potential sale.
Upon noticing the police presence, the accused attempted to discard the substance by throwing some of the bags on the ground, but was unsuccessful. Following a superficial search, the 15 doses were seized, and he was immediately arrested.
The detainee, along with the seized drugs and the compiled proceedings, has been handed over to the competent Judicial Authority. The Civil Guard maintains and enhances its presence at popular festivals to ensure attendee safety and prevent disturbances.
