Images that quickly went viral on social media on Saturday showed a car driving on the general road of Güímar with its trunk completely open and a person inside.
The unusual scene was captured by other drivers on the same road, who recorded the incident. Televisión Canaria also reported on the images, contributing to their rapid spread.
The Civil Guard, who were conducting a routine checkpoint in the area at the time, were alerted to the situation and managed to intercept the vehicle just minutes after the images began to circulate.

Authorities have initiated the corresponding procedures to apply the appropriate sanctions for the serious infraction committed, which endangered the safety of those involved and other road users.
