The La Orotava City Council and the Universidad Europea de Canarias have launched a new call for study aid scholarships for the 2026-2027 academic year, offering 20 subsidized places.

The initiative, resulting from an agreement between both institutions, aims to facilitate access to higher education for the municipality's residents. This year, a total of 20 subsidized places have been made available: five scholarships will cover 50% of the teaching costs, while 15 students will receive a 10% discount on teaching costs.
The program is aimed at first-year students enrolling in official degree programs at the Universidad Europea de Canarias. However, certain degrees are excluded, including Medicine, Dentistry, Physiotherapy (Madrid), Nursing (Valencia and Canarias), Blended Pharmacy, Physical Activity and Sport Sciences (Madrid), as well as Doctoral programs and the Blended Master's in Teacher Training, among others.
Applicants must strictly meet three fundamental requirements: residency registration in La Orotava for at least one year, an average grade of 6 in their academic record for degree access, and an average grade of 6.5 for those applying for master's or postgraduate programs.
The application period will be open from July 27 to August 27. Applicants must submit the registration form along with basic family documentation, including photocopies of their DNI, Family Book, and PAU certificate or previous academic record. A photocopy of the 2025 income tax return for all household members or express authorization for the City Council to obtain fiscal data directly from the Tax Agency (AEAT) is also required.
Documentation submission will be done in person by appointment at the City Council's General Registry or digitally via the municipal Electronic Office. These scholarships are maintained annually to provide more educational opportunities for the local youth.
The Universidad Europea de Canarias, the first private higher education institution in the Canary Islands, began its academic activity in La Orotava in the 2012-2013 academic year. It currently offers over 35 degrees, both in-person and online, and has facilities in the historic center of La Orotava and in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Its educational model focuses on innovation, internationalization, and employability.
