The Canary Islands Health Service (SCS), through its Directorate General of Blood Donation and Hemotherapy, has emphasized the importance of blood donation and detailed the available collection points on the island of Tenerife. A notable location is the El Trompo Commercial Multicenter, designed to make donations easier for residents and visitors in the north of the island.
Donation hours at the El Trompo Commercial Multicenter for today and tomorrow are from 10:15 to 13:30 and from 17:15 to 20:30. The Directorate General stresses that each donation can save up to three lives and is crucial for the functioning of the Canary Islands' healthcare system.
In addition to El Trompo, other fixed donation points are available in Tenerife. In the capital, the fixed point in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, located on Méndez Núñez street, operates from Monday to Friday between 9:15 and 20:15 (excluding holidays). At the San Isidro Health Center in Granadilla de Abona, donations can be made from Monday to Friday between 10:00 and 13:30 and from 14:15 to 19:30 (excluding holidays), with reserved parking for donors and telephone assistance at 677 980 518.
Within the hospital network, the University Hospital of the Canary Islands allows donations without prior appointment from Sunday to Friday and on holidays from 8:30 to 21:30, and on Saturdays from 8:30 to 14:30 and 15:30 to 20:00 (contact: 922 678 670). The University Hospital Nuestra Señora de Candelaria accepts walk-in donations from Monday to Friday between 8:00 and 20:00 and on Saturdays from 9:00 to 13:00 (excluding holidays, contact: 922 602 060).
Other donation sites include Hospiten Bellevue in Puerto de la Cruz, requiring an appointment by calling 922 385 235 (option 1), from Monday to Friday between 11:00 and 14:30 (excluding holidays). The San Juan de Dios Hospital, located on the road from Santa Cruz to La Laguna, nº53, accepts donations from Monday to Friday, between 10:30 and 12:30 (excluding holidays).
To donate blood, individuals must meet basic requirements: be between eighteen and 65 years old (up to sixty for a first-time donation), weigh over fifty kilograms, be in good general health, and not be pregnant.
