Starting this Saturday, and in anticipation of rising temperatures over the weekend, the Tenerife Island Council has implemented Level 2 measures throughout the island. Consequently, the La Orotava City Council has imposed a ban on making fires in the El Bosquito and El Rincón Recreational Areas.
These Level 2 measures include prohibiting the circulation of motor vehicles on the network of forest tracks for recreational purposes, as well as staying in recreational areas, camping sites, and camps.
Furthermore, existing restrictions prohibiting fireworks and agricultural burns, among other activities, remain in effect.
Additionally, the Ministry of Health has issued red-level heat advisories for the north of Tenerife.
Health authorities urge the public to follow key recommendations to prevent dehydration, such as drinking plenty of water, using sunscreen, sunglasses, and light-colored clothing. It is also advised to seek shade and limit outdoor activities between 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM, when the heat is most intense.
Special attention is called for the protection of vulnerable individuals, including children, the elderly, and those with chronic illnesses, who are more susceptible to the effects of extreme heat.
