The Mayor of Los Realejos, Adolfo González, and the Councilor for Social Welfare, Luz Pilar García, visited the ‘El Payaso Feliz’ municipal play center in Realejo Alto to inspect the use of the new furniture. This provision, funded by the IASS, aims to improve the services offered by the eight play centers in the municipality.
The new equipment includes shelves for educational and play materials, coat racks with lockers, and flip charts for educational, creative, and musical activities. The total amount of the insular subsidy was 5,389.47 euros.
Adolfo González expressed gratitude for the IASS's support, emphasizing that it contributes to improving the organization of spaces and expanding available materials, offering more functional facilities adapted to children's needs.
The municipal play center service is free and aids family reconciliation throughout the year. During the summer period, until September 4th, it is offered in morning shifts (10:00 AM - 12:00 PM and 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM) and is decentralized across different districts of the town. Adolfo González noted the positive reception of these services among families in Los Realejos.
The play centers ‘La Estrella Mágica’ (La Carrera) and ‘Payaso Feliz’ (Realejo Alto) are open Monday to Friday. Those in Palo Blanco, Las Llanadas, La Puntilla (Toscal Longuera), La Cruz Santa, and Icod el Alto operate Monday to Thursday, while ‘El Bosque de los Caramelos’ (Icod el Alto) and ‘El Jardín de los Colores’ (La Montaña) are open Tuesday to Friday.
Luz Pilar García highlighted that play centers are a fundamental tool for supporting families, offering safe, educational, and social spaces for children. The new equipment, funded by the IASS subsidy, reaffirms the institutional commitment to childhood.
