A significant increase in mobility and population concentrations is expected in western-facing areas of the islands between 18:57 and 20:45 hours.
This measure aims to ensure the safety of observers, minimize the risk of forest fires in woodland and interface zones, and enhance coordination among various administrations and emergency, security, health, transport, and environmental services. The goal is also to prevent the overloading of health, rescue, transport, and telecommunications services.
The Canary Islands Government recommends observing the eclipse from nearby, accessible, and safe locations, advising against unnecessary travel to peaks and forest areas. It suggests using public transport when possible, not parking vehicles on road shoulders or emergency access routes, staggering return journeys, and following authorities' instructions. Furthermore, it emphasizes the need for approved eye protection when looking directly at the sun.
