The Granadilla de Abona City Council is promoting the expansion of the Sanipeques Municipal Early Childhood Center. The project, coordinated by the Public Works and Education departments, led by Marcos Antonio Rodríguez and Raquel Morales respectively, aims to enhance the center's capacity and facilities for early childhood education.
The Local Government Board approved the expenditure for the contracting and tendering of the works on September 8. The project has a base tender budget of 644,723.86 euros, plus 67,501.14 € for the complete upgrade of the fire protection system. This initiative, previously approved in December 2025, now receives a new impetus for its execution.
Marcos Antonio Rodríguez, Councilor for Municipal Works and Services, highlighted that "we are taking a fundamental step to turn an important project for the municipality's families into a reality." He added that the contracting process will be expedited to commence the works "as soon as possible" and equip Sanipeques with facilities that meet current needs.
For her part, the Councilor for Education, Raquel Morales, stated that the expansion "means continuing to improve municipal educational resources from the earliest ages." She emphasized the service's importance for many families and the need for adequate, functional spaces. Morales added that the action aligns with the City Council's commitment to reinforcing educational infrastructure and facilitating work-life balance, with a special focus on the crucial stage of early childhood education.
Both departments stressed the coordination to advance this investment exceeding seven hundred thousand euros, which will further enhance public infrastructure for the municipality's children. The council will now proceed with the administrative process for the tendering and subsequent execution of the works.
