The winery Linaje del Pago, located in El Sauzal (Tenerife), has received international recognition with a gold medal at the Brazil Wine Challenge for its La Cerca Marmajuelo Blanco 2025 wine and two awards at the Pentawards for the design of its Arrorró wine.

The Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Food Sovereignty of the Government of the Canary Islands, Narvay Quintero, along with the mayor of El Sauzal, Mariano Pérez, visited the facilities of the Linaje del Pago winery to present the accreditation diploma for the gold medal won at the international competition Brazil Wine Challenge. This wine, La Cerca Marmajuelo Blanco 2025, participated in an edition that for the first time included Canarian wines, competing with 1,127 samples from 190 wineries.
Additionally, the winery's wine Arrorró received two bronze medals at the twentieth edition of the Pentawards, a prestigious international packaging design competition, held in London. The design, by Irubi Studio, is inspired by traditional Canarian crochet to reflect the grape's pasification process and the wine's sweetness.
Minister Quintero highlighted the "talent and dedication of Canary Islands wine sector professionals," emphasizing their capacity to produce wines of "extraordinary quality" with "unique personality" that compete internationally. He also stressed the importance of wine tourism, for which Linaje del Pago is a benchmark, and promotional activities for wine commercialization.
Linaje del Pago is part of the Canary Islands Wine Tourism Cluster and collaborates with the public company Gestión del Medio Rural de Canarias (GMR Canarias) within the regional government's 'Crecer Juntos' strategy. This agreement aims to promote and support the commercialization of Canarian wines and their wine tourism offerings.
The meeting also included the winery's owner, José María Gómez Medina; the director of the Canary Institute of Agri-food Quality (ICCA), Luis Arráez Guadalupe; the vice-president of CERVIM, Manuel Capote; gastronomic journalist José Carlos Moreno; and the co-founders of Irubi Studio, Irene Samarín and Rubén Poves.
José María Gómez Medina, the owner, stated that the awards reinforce the winery's image internationally, enabling the sale of its limited product line in foreign markets. Meanwhile, Irene Samarín, co-founder of Irubi Studio, explained that the design was inspired by love, home, and family, and that this international recognition will help "open many markets".
The winery has also recently won two grand gold medals at the Mondial des Vins Extrêmes (Italy) for its Blanco Roto 2025 and Arrorró Blanco 2021 wines, and gold medals for Altura Linaje del Pago 2024, Rojo Carmín 2023, and Rosa Palo 2025. In that edition, Canarian wines secured 105 awards, 26% of the total, and the Canary Islands received the World Award for Extreme Wines 2026.
Linaje del Pago, located in El Sauzal and protected by the DOP Tacoronte-Acentejo and Islas Canarias, is considered the first wine tourism accommodation in the Canary Islands. It began operations in 2018 with three wine references and currently offers thirteen, with an annual production of approximately 60,000 bottles. It manages 47 hectares of vineyards and has accumulated nearly thirty awards, including the 2024 Tourism Award for Excellence in Canary Islands Wine Tourism. It recently acquired a property in Vilaflor for new vineyards and wine tourism activities.
In the 2025 campaign, grape production was 30,721 kg (21,377 white, 9,344 red) and wine production reached 17,429 liters (5,062 for DOP Tacoronte-Acentejo and 12,367 for DOP Islas Canarias).
The winery participates in the Cambuyón project, promoted by the Canary Islands Wine Tourism Cluster and GMR Canarias, which combines the wine tourism experience with e-commerce and logistics to facilitate the sale of Canarian wines to tourists and overcome distribution challenges.
