A total of 17 unemployed individuals have participated in the 'Memoria Viva 2025' program by the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, restoring and conserving nearly thirty heritage, museum, and historically significant sites across the island.

The work focused on the recovery of elements such as the Jandía, Tostón, and La Entallada lighthouses, the Ampuyenta Cultural Heritage Complex, mills in areas like Valles de Ortega, La Corte, or Villaverde, and the surroundings of the Casa del Arrendatario in Cofete.
In collaboration with local councils, interventions extended to other sites of historical value, including the Tesjuate Unitary School and the Casillas Lucha Arena. Ecclesiastical elements were also addressed, such as the churches of Tuineje, Tetir, and Antigua, and the area around Nuestra Señora de La Peña in Vega de Río Palmas.
This employment plan, co-financed by the Cabildo de Fuerteventura and the Government of the Canary Islands through the Canary Islands Development Fund (FDCAN), aims not only to promote local employment, particularly among vulnerable groups, but also to improve the island and preserve its identity.
“

"From the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, we are clear about the importance of employment plans, which we direct towards public service actions demanded by the population. In this case, by conserving and rehabilitating our island's heritage sites, which are one of our great attractions for visitors, they are a hallmark of Majorera identity and, ultimately, a treasure we must protect."

Lola García · President of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura

"These types of programs not only foster local employment, targeting those population sectors that are more vulnerable and have greater difficulties in labor insertion, but they also aim to improve Fuerteventura in various areas, fulfilling the demands made by citizens."

Nuria Cabrera · Minister of Employment Promotion
