Tacoronte is set to become a vibrant showcase of creativity, nature, and floral art this weekend with the inaugural «Tacoronte en Flor – Comercio VIVO». This initiative, driven by the Commerce Department of the Ayuntamiento de Tacoronte in collaboration with the Tourism Area and coordinated by the Floraguere Association, will feature a unique route of nine large-format ephemeral sculptures.
Crafted from natural flowers and plants, the artworks will be displayed in various locations around the La Estación area, between the main square and the Municipal Market, on September 5th and 6th. The creations, made on Friday, September 4th, will bring together florists and floral art professionals from Canary Islands and the Iberian Peninsula, reinterpreting recognizable elements of Tacoronte such as its traditions, landscape, heritage, gastronomy, wine culture, and symbols.
Each creation will include an informative sign detailing the author, title, and inspiration. Among the participants are professionals such as Guillermo Lasso García (Andalusian School of Floral Art, Seville), presenting «Sacrificio y redención»; Daniel Santamaria Pueyo (Barcelona), with «Iglu floral»; and Ángela Batista Hernández (Floristería Maxiflor, Tacoronte), author of «Atardecer mágico», inspired by the landscape of the Centennial Viñátigos.
From Tenerife, Montserrat Domínguez Álvarez (Rincón Floral, La Orotava) will present «Dulce esencia», honoring the festive identity and traditional nougat. Fulgencio Espinosa Díaz (Un Bejeque en mi Tejado, La Laguna) revives the figure of the «Gangocheras al tranvía» (women carrying goods), while Esther Delgado Gaspar (Floristería Carmita, Granadilla) presents «La herencia de los placeres», linked to the agricultural and wine history.
Completing the route are Félix Manuel Díaz González (Félix Díaz Creaciones, San Isidro) with «Abanico de tierra y vino» (Fan of land and wine); Sonia González Joven (Floristería Sun and Flowers, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria) with «El abrazo de Tacoronte» (The Embrace of Tacoronte), inspired by the Santísimo Cristo de los Dolores y Agonía; and Inmaculada Concepción Rivero Rodríguez (Lali) (Floristería Mi Flor, Tacoronte) with «Regala flores mientras haya manos para recibirlas» (Give flowers while there are hands to receive them).
The aim of «Tacoronte en Flor – Comercio VIVO» is to revitalize the commercial area of La Estación, creating an attractive route for residents and visitors. The initiative draws inspiration from successful events in other Canarian municipalities like Gáldar, Guía de Isora, and La Laguna, adapting the format to Tacoronte's unique identity.
The result will be an open-air floral museum where flowers and creativity will tell the stories of Tacoronte, transforming its streets into a stage for ephemeral art over two days. The public is invited to explore the nine creations, discover their meanings, and enjoy a proposal that merges commerce, tourism, culture, nature, and local heritage through floral art.
