The Tacoronte City Council has welcomed the 35 individuals hired through the «Tacoronte in Training 2026-2027» project, an employment and training initiative aimed at the long-term unemployed that will enhance municipal services.

The welcome event took place in the Council's Plenary Hall and was attended by the acting mayoress, Noemí García; the second deputy mayor, José Caro; the Councilor for Employment and Local Development, Eduardo Dávila; and the Councilor for Water and Public Lighting, Suso Machado.
This new edition, promoted by the Local Employment and Development Agency in coordination with the Human Resources Department, has a subsidy of 385,687.13 euros from the Canary Employment Service (SCE). The initiative incorporates 19 men and 16 women who will perform duties related to public works and services of general interest for the municipality, while participating in an itinerary to enhance their professional skills.
The staff will include ten people for cleaning tasks, ten public works laborers, five painting laborers, and five masonry laborers. The team is completed by a first-class painting technician, a first-class masonry technician, an administrative assistant, and two mid-level graduates in Pedagogy for teaching roles. Teaching staff will work 90% of the time, while the administrative assistant will work 100%, with contracts lasting nine months for both, and eight and a half months for the rest of the participants.
The project aims to increase employment opportunities for those who have been unemployed for longer periods by acquiring new professional skills and gaining experience in real work environments, combining classroom training with practical learning.
The total budget for the project amounts to 397,934.25 euros, of which 385,687.13 euros come from the Canary Employment Service, while the City Council contributes 2,247.12 euros for labor costs and 10,000 euros for materials and other expenses.
According to data from the Canary Employment Observatory, Tacoronte had 1,712 registered unemployed people at the end of September 2026 (985 women and 727 men), a 22.3% decrease compared to July 2023. Employment policies continue to prioritize support for those facing greater obstacles to re-enter the job market.
