The incident, which will be tried this Wednesday at the Audiencia de Las Palmas, occurred on October 18, 2021. According to the Prosecutor's Office, the driver repeatedly rammed the motorcyclist while transporting passengers on line 9, which covers the route between Hoya de la Plata and Hospital Doctor Negrín.
The accusation states that, after the initial ramming, the motorcyclist approached the driver to ask for an explanation. In response, the driver made an abrupt change of direction to the left, invading the opposite lane and cutting off the motorcycle's path, which was at the height of the bus's rear left tires.
With his conscious action, he caused the motorcyclist to fall to the ground and become trapped under the bus.
As a result of the fall, the motorcyclist suffered severe injuries, including closed thoracic trauma, multiple left rib fractures, bifocal and displaced fractures of the ninth, tenth, and eleventh left costal arches, pulmonary contusion, left scapula fracture, and mild left hydropneumothorax. These injuries required 177 days of healing, in addition to rehabilitation treatment and medical follow-up.
The Prosecutor's Office charges the driver with a crime of reckless driving, for which it requests two years in prison, and another of assault with a dangerous instrument, with a request for five years in jail. Additionally, a five-year disqualification from driving motor vehicles and mopeds is sought, along with a total compensation of 15,408 euros for the victim, who also suffered material damage to his motorcycle valued at 2,947 euros.
