The detainee, of Spanish nationality, forced the glass door of the establishment around eleven at night, an hour after closing. Security cameras captured the moment he entered to steal three cash boxes, each containing 150 euros, as well as other merchandise.
After gathering the loot, the individual left with several bags. The CIMACC 091 dispatch center received the alert, and several Citizen Security patrols were dispatched to the shopping center. Security personnel informed officers about the perpetrator's escape and physical characteristics.
A patrol located the alleged perpetrator at a nearby bus stop, carrying the stolen bags. Concurrently, other officers reviewed the business's video surveillance footage, which, along with the recovered items, provided evidence for his arrest on charges of robbery with force.
The suspect has a record of about twenty previous arrests for theft, assault, or threats. At the time of his arrest, he was under precautionary measures imposed by a judge, including the surrender of his passport and a prohibition from leaving national territory without prior notification.
The National Police highlighted the collaboration between the CIMACC 091 dispatch center, Citizen Security patrols, and the shopping center's security staff as crucial for the swift resolution of the case and the recovery of the money and stolen items.
The complex was previously targeted in June, when five masked individuals stole jewelry valued at over 120,000 euros. In mid-July, the National Police arrested four of the involved parties.
