Arucas Club de Fútbol, an entity deeply rooted in northern Gran Canaria, is set to play its 500th match in the Canarian Third Division, solidifying its legacy in regional football.

Founded in 1927, the Arucas club has been a cornerstone of sports on the islands, accumulating fourteen participations in the Canarian Group of the Third Division and twenty-five in the Preferente Category of Las Palmas. This upcoming match, scheduled for Saturday, April 18 at 11:00 AM against San Bartolomé Club de Fútbol at the Municipal Manuel Pablo de Bañaderos, will mark a milestone in its history, even though the team is not currently in its best league position.

"Founded in 1927, in its first season in this scenario, the club was, unintentionally, a protagonist of the erroneous decisions made by the two territorial federations of Las Palmas and Tenerife."

José Agustín Lorenzo · Third Division Expert
Arucas' debut in national category dates back to the 1985-86 season. Their first match was on September 29, 1985, at home, resulting in a goalless draw against Realejos from Tenerife. That season was marked by controversy due to decisions made by the territorial federations, which created a complex scenario of promotions and playoffs, even leading to the intervention of the Spanish Federation to resolve the situation and allow Arucas' inclusion in the competition.
Throughout its history, the club has experienced memorable moments. The 100th match was played on January 31, 1988, against Unión Deportiva Icodense in Icod de Los Vinos. The 200th match took place on September 13, 2014, with a 3-1 home victory against Atlético Granadilla. The 300th match, on February 26, 2017, coincided with a painful relegation to Preferente after a defeat against Lanzarote. The 400th match was celebrated on April 9, 2023, with a victory against Gran Tarajal in Fuerteventura, already under the new format of the Tercera RFEF Canarias.
This upcoming match against San Bartolomé CF is crucial for the future of both teams in the category, adding a layer of tension to the celebration of this significant anniversary for Arucas Club de Fútbol.
