Fans of classic Spanish cinema will have to wait another week to enjoy their usual Saturday appointment on La 1 of TVE. The program 'Cine de Barrio', hosted by Inés Ballester, has been removed from the schedule for the third consecutive time, an unprecedented streak caused by programming changes due to major events.
The absence of the show began two weeks ago when the public channel decided to broadcast the Star Wars saga. The following week, the afternoon schedule was altered by the coverage of the Women's Champions League final.
This Saturday, the reason for the interruption is once again a major sporting event: the final of the UEFA Champions League. La 1 will dedicate its afternoon to broadcasting the match between PSG and Arsenal, which kicks off at 6:00 PM, making it impossible to air the film program and its pre-match coverage.
This triple consecutive absence represents an unusual setback for one of Televisión Española's most stable and historic programs. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the show is expected to return to its usual time slot next Saturday.
