A joint operation by the Local Police of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and the National Police has resulted in the arrest of two individuals after a twenty-kilometer pursuit.

The incident began early this Wednesday in the Santa Catalina area, when officers spotted a vehicle driving erratically. After ignoring orders to stop, the driver initiated a high-speed flight, reaching 170 kilometers per hour on urban roads and endangering other drivers by driving against traffic.
The chase continued through various parts of the capital and extended to the municipality of Telde. The fleeing vehicle was finally intercepted at kilometer 8.05 of the GC-1 highway, near La Mareta, after ramming a National Police patrol car that had blocked its path.
Following the collision, one of the occupants attempted to flee on foot along the highway median but was apprehended by officers. During a search of the vehicle, authorities discovered a bag containing 97 grams of a narcotic substance, along with various amounts of cash.
As a result of the incident, two officers sustained injuries and the vehicles involved suffered significant material damage. The detainees have been taken to medical centers under police custody for treatment and subsequent judicial processing.
