The DGT, through its official channels, has focused on the P-25 sign, one of those that generates the most doubts among road users. This triangular sign with a red border and white background displays two black arrows pointing in opposite directions, one up and one down. Its function is to warn of a section of two-way traffic, indicating that the road has one lane for each direction.
“"It indicates that the road changes to two-way traffic, generally after a one-way section. It is recommended to exercise extreme caution and moderate speed due to the possible presence of oncoming vehicles."
Lack of knowledge or misinterpretation of this sign can lead to serious consequences, not only in terms of safety but also financially. The DGT emphasizes that the P-25 sign warns of increased danger, especially if considering overtaking, as the presence of oncoming vehicles requires maximum caution.
When encountering the P-25 sign, drivers must exercise extreme caution, maintain a clear field of vision, reduce speed, and keep a safe distance from the vehicle ahead. Non-compliance with these regulations can result in fines ranging from 100 euros for minor infractions, up to 200 euros and loss of license points for more serious cases. Very serious infractions can reach 500 euros and lead to the withdrawal of the driving license.
Therefore, the traffic authority insists that recognizing and respecting signs not only prevents penalties but is also a fundamental pillar for ensuring the road safety of all users.
