The incident occurred around 12:09 PM and, according to initial information from the National Police, three workers were affected, one of them fatally. The exact circumstances of the accident and the final victim count remain under investigation.
The mayor of Telde, Juan Antonio Peña, told Radio Televisión Canaria that the victims were performing vertical work when the incident happened. The explosion was heard loudly in the Salinetas and Melenara areas.
Emergency services, including the Consorcio de Emergencias de Gran Canaria, the Local Police of Telde, the National Police, Civil Protection, and medical resources from the Canary Emergency Service (SUC), have been deployed to the scene. These teams are working in coordination to control the situation, attend to the affected individuals, and ensure the safety of the surrounding area.
The Telde City Council has asked citizens to avoid traveling to the vicinity of the industrial park to avoid hindering the movement of emergency vehicles. They also recommend following the instructions of security forces and have assured that they will continue to provide updates on the incident's evolution as official information becomes available.
