The Gran Canaria Council has initiated the process for the landscape regeneration of the GC-3 highway, tendering technical assistance for a project aimed at restoring 20 kilometers of the road between Jinámar and Arucas.

The Department of Territorial Policy and Landscape has launched the procedure to award the technical assistance contract, valued at 67,865 euros. Interested companies have until May 4th to submit their proposals.

"With the aim and purpose of continuing to care for and nurture the landscape of Gran Canaria, the identifying element that makes us unique in the world, and continuing the work started years ago, we have put this project out to tender."

The initiative seeks to restore the beauty of the 20-kilometer stretch, correcting impacts caused by human use. This action complements other master plans already underway on roads such as the GC-1 and GC-2, aiming to promote a sustainable island and harmonized development.
The contracting of this project is a crucial step in defining the necessary restoration actions for this corridor, which currently features degraded urban fronts, slopes with debris, deteriorated walls with graffiti, and abandoned landscaping.
The successful technical team will be required to conduct a landscape analysis, diagnose existing problems, and define restoration actions to eliminate or correct visual impacts. The master project will establish the technical roadmap, including a description of actions, graphic definitions, and cost estimations.
