A fire declared this Tuesday on a plot in the San Antonio sector, in the Gran Canarian municipality of Telde, mobilized firefighters, Civil Protection volunteers, Local Police, and an ambulance from the Canary Emergency Service (SUC).

The fire originated on a property located on Calle Alto de Los Leones, which contained precarious structures and a significant accumulation of waste, wood scraps, metal sheets, belongings, and other combustible materials.
The intensity of the flames generated a column of black smoke visible from various points in the municipality, causing concern among local residents. It was residents from the area who alerted emergency services after spotting the flames and smoke emanating from the plot.
Firefighters from the Telde zonal station responded to the scene to intervene in the extinction. Volunteers from Civil Protection also participated, along with Local Police officers and preventive health resources.
Emergency teams deployed several water lines to tackle active hotspots and prevent the fire from spreading to other parts of the premises. The presence of flammable materials and the irregular layout of the property complicated extinction efforts, which included narrow passages, vehicles, sheds, and improvised storage areas.
The fire affected several light constructions located within the plot. Flames damaged sheet metal and wooden structures, in addition to consuming numerous waste materials and belongings stored outdoors. The accumulation of discarded materials contributed to the generation of dense, black smoke.
Firefighters worked for several hours to contain the fire's advance within the property itself, extinguish hotspots, and reduce the risk of reignition.
The striking image of the fire was the large column of black smoke that rose over San Antonio, visible from different areas of Telde and capturing the attention of numerous residents. Smoke spread across parts of the surroundings as emergency personnel worked on the affected materials, such as plastics and treated wood, which intensified combustion.
Currently, there are no reports of personal injuries. The presence of an SUC ambulance was part of the preventive deployment in the area. Emergency services remained on site while extinction efforts were underway. The causes that originated the fire have not yet been disclosed and will be subject to investigation.
