The swearing-in of Katiuska Hernández Alemán took place this Monday, solidifying her position as Deputy Secretary General of the Plenary of the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria City Council. This role was assigned through the direct designation system, following a rigorous selection process.
During the ceremony, Mayor Carolina Darias emphasized the importance of this addition, highlighting that Hernández Alemán's appointment "strengthens the legal and technical support structure" of the municipal Plenary. This measure is crucial for ensuring the proper exercise of the body's powers. Attendees included the Councilor for Presidency, Finance, Modernization, Human Resources, and Water, Francisco Hernández Spínola; the delegated Councilor for Human Resources, Esther Martín; and the Secretary General of the Plenary, María Mercedes Contreras, as well as other general directors of the City Council.
The process for filling the position concluded with the appointment by Mayoral Decree. This role is reserved for local administration civil servants with national qualification, specifically from the Secretariat Subscale, superior category. The procedure was carried out respecting the principles of equality, merit, and capacity, culminating in the proposal from the Evaluation Commission, which verified compliance with all established requirements in the call.
