The community of La Atalaya, in Santa Brígida, recently held a tribute for the local clinic's nurse to honor her more than two decades of dedicated healthcare service.

The event, promoted by the Cataifa Neighborhood Association on the occasion of Nursing Day, highlighted a career defined by closeness, home care, and social involvement in the area. The professional, who also resides in the municipality, has carried out work that goes beyond medical technique, becoming a reference figure for local families.
Currently, the nurse attends to about 25 patients in their homes, performing dressings, blood draws, and monitoring chronic conditions. Furthermore, her work includes health promotion and participation in community activities, such as the emotional well-being group that has met weekly at the center since the end of the pandemic.

"I care and I feel cared for. Accessibility is limited and architectural barriers make home care a very important part of daily activity."

The professional emphasizes that the success of her work in a rural setting like La Atalaya lies in the mutual trust built over the years. She explains that teamwork with other health center professionals has been essential to maintaining close and human-centered care, making daily life easier in a geographically dispersed area.
