Las Palmas de Gran Canaria commemorates Canarian Day on May 30th with an extensive agenda of cultural activities, including Taifas dances, gastronomic exhibitions, and markets.

The Gran Canarian capital is preparing to celebrate the Archipelago's identity with a varied program of events taking place on May 30th and the preceding day. Festivities include the traditional Taifas Dance, gastronomic exhibitions, Canarian product markets, and various musical performances.
The third edition of the Taifas Dance will be held at Don Benito park, in Schamann, from 8:00 PM to 11:30 PM. It will feature performances by Los Gofiones, La Parranda de Teror, and La Agrupación Folklórica Los Poliguanches, as well as dance groups from the Asociación Cultural Dragos y Laurel and the Universidad Popular Juan Rodríguez Doreste. The 960 free spots were quickly sold out, highlighting the success of this initiative aimed at recreating the spirit of traditional dances, requiring traditional attire to honor Canarian past and present.
Plaza de España will be another hub of celebration starting at 11:00 AM on Saturday. The municipal company Turismo LPA has organized a program focused on Canarian popular culture, featuring music, dance, indigenous sports, and crafts. Folkloric groups Aythamy Atamarazait and Poliguanches will perform, and a demonstration of the traditional garrote game will take place.
In the vicinity of the square, from 9:30 AM, visitors can enjoy a display of traditional pottery, demonstrations of traditional gofio kneading, and artisanal cheese making, with tasting opportunities. The Real Club Victoria also joins the commemoration with a program including the closing of the 'El Zaguán de Carlines' exhibition on Friday the 29th and the Paseo Romero on Saturday the 30th. The latter will depart at 12:00 PM from Parque Santa Catalina to Plaza de La Luz, featuring allegorical representations of the eight islands, folkloric groups, and traditional demonstrations. On Sunday the 31st, Armonía Show will conclude the activities.
The event 'Santa Catalina Vive: commerce, tradition, and identity' will be held at the Santa Catalina Market from Friday the 29th to Sunday, featuring 53 exhibitors selling Canarian brand products. Meanwhile, Plaza de Santa Ana will host the La Isla festival, which includes a parade with the Banda de Firgas and the papahuevos from Parque San Telmo. Subsequently, the musical-theatrical performance 'Attindamana' will bring together over 500 Canarian talents, followed by a DJ set by Saot.
